Sunnyvale, Calif. -- Silicon Graphics Inc. (SGI), a Sunnyvale-based developer of server, virtualization and storage products, said that it plans to cut 225 jobs -- or 15% of its workforce -- as part of a larger restructuring. The company said that several executive and senior-level positions will be included in the cuts. "The impact of the credit crisis and weakened global economy has caused SGI, along with our customers and other companies in our industry, to reduce expense levels to reflect the current business environment," said Bo Ewald, the CEO of SGI. "Today's difficult but necessary actions will help us retain some momentum and a stronger, sustainable business model."
