San Carlos, Calif. -- Six weeks after originally raising $12 million in its second round of funding, Aster Data Systems, a San Carlos-based developer of analytic database systems for data warehousing, said on Wednesday that it has added another $5 million from Institutional Venture Partners (IVP). JAFCO Ventures led the original tranche. "Expanding this financing round will help us continue to innovate and grow aggressively, with a nice cushion to ride the economic waves," said Mayank Bawa, the co-founder and CEO of Aster. Clients such as MySpace, Akamai and Aggregate Knowledge use Aster's nCluster database.
