Santa Clara, Calif. -- Intel, the Santa Clara-based chip-making giant, said on Friday that it has completed its acquisition of Alameda-based Wind River Systems, a developer of software for embedded computing systems. The company launched its tender offer for the company in June, paying $11.50 a share. Intel said that the acquisition will allow it to grow its processor and software presence outside the traditional PC and server markets. Wind River is now a unit of Intel, operating as part of the company's the Software and Services Group.
