Palo Alto, Calif. -- Hewlett-Packard (HP), the Palo Alto-based technology giant, said on Friday that it will pay an undisclosed sum to acquire Massachusetts-based IBRIX, a developer of file serving software for large organizations. The deal is expected to close within the next 30 days, when IBRIX will be integrated into the StorageWorks division in HP's Technology Solutions Group. Founded in 2000, IBRIX makes software designed to let clients store massive amounts of user-generated data. The company, which has 53 employees and more than 175 clients, has been a partner of HP's for three years. "Customers need highly scalable storage solutions that efficiently and cost-effectively manage massive amounts of information,” said Jeff Hausman, the vice president of unified storage at HP's StorageWorks Division. "This acquisition expands our portfolio to better support the needs of this market segment."
