San Ramon, Calif. -- The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), a Virginia-based trade group for the U.S. consumer electronics industry, said that it has acquired an unspecified stake in San Ramon-based Global Inventures, which specializes in developing industry alliances across the high tech, clean/green energy and healthcare markets, with an eye on delivering standardized products to the market.. "The investment complements our efforts to encourage innovation and bring to market new industry standards and products by increasing our work with emerging technologies for networked consumer electronics and devices," said Gary Shapiro, CEA's president and CEO. Inventures will continue to operate as a privately held firm, maintaining its West Coast headquarters while also working through the CEA's Arlington offices. The parties expect to develop and announce joint programs and services during the next year.
