Mountain View, Calif. -- Looking to deepen its offering in the mobile ad space, Mountain View-based Google said on Monday that it will pay $750 million in stock to acquire San Mateo-based mobile display advertising provider AdMob. Founded in 2006, AdMob offers self-service tools that advertisers can use to target their mobile ads, as well as mobile ad platforms for the iPhone and more recently, Google's own Android operating system for mobile phones. The company also publishes reports on mobile advertising trends. "Mobile advertising has enormous potential as a marketing medium and while this industry is still in the early stages of development, AdMob has already made exceptional progress in a very short time," said Susan Wojcicki, vice president of product management at Google. "AdMob is the quintessential Silicon Valley startup."
