Redwood City, Calif. -- RockYou, a Redwood City-based developer of social network applications and advertising technology, has raised $50 million in its fourth round of venture capital financing, coming entirely from previous investor Softbank. The company now has raised $118 million since its inception in 2005. RockYou develops social networking applications, and also serves ads within its own and other developers' applications. RockYou claims 213 million unique users a month on its social media ad network, which include the company's popular photo slideshow for MySpace and Facebook's Superwall. The news comes a year after the company closed its third round at $52 million, including a $35 million tranche led by DCM. Other backers include Sequoia Capital, Partech International and Lightspeed Venture Partners.
