San Francisco -- IPWireless, a San Francisco-based developer of mobile broadband and broadcast technology, said on Wednesday that it has raised $15.5 million in its first round of funding, led by Boston-based Spark Capital. The company plans to use the proceeds to expand its platform into both the government and commercial markets. IPWireless makes chipsets, devices and software that allow the 3GPP mobile standard to support a new range of applications and spectrum bands. Clients, including T-Mobile and New York City's Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications, use the products to deliver new wireless services.
