San Francisco -- 1020 Placecast, the San Francisco-based developer of a location-based marketing system, said on Wednesday that it has raised $5 million in its second round of funding. Investors included Quatrex Capital, as well as previous backers Onset Ventures and Voyager Capital. 1020 Placecast's platform is designed to use digital marketing on the web and mobile to drive consumers into physical environments. The company plans to use the proceeds to drive the adoption of feature that lets clients connect with consumers' mobile phones, based on their specific location. Current partners include NAVTEQ and Alcatel-Lucent, and marketers include FedEx Office, Avis and Budget Rental Cars and Hyatt Hotels.
