Cupertino, Calif. -- Steve Jobs, the CEO of Cupertino-based Apple, is on track to return to the company at the end of this month following six months of medical leave, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the situation. It's still unclear whether Jobs will appear next week at the company's developers' conference in San Francisco, where Apple is expected to release new iPhone software and possibly a new iPhone model. Jobs, who has battled pancreatic cancer, announced in January that he would take a medical leave of absence. Since then, some Apple directors have received weekly updates about Jobs' condition, one source told The Journal. "He was one real sick guy,'' the source told the paper. "Fundamentally he was starving to death over a nine-month period. He couldn't digest protein. [But] he took corrective action.''
