Sunnyvale, Calif. -- Looking to bolster its cybersecurity offerings, Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), the large government technology contractor based in Virginia, said on Thursday that it has reached a deal to acquire Sunnyvale-based CloudShield Technologies, developer of a platform that lets customers inspect, analyze and control network traffic. Financial terms of the deal, expected to close by mid-February, were not disclosed. Founded in 2000, CloudShield provides services management and infrastructure security tools to service providers and national governments. The company's platform consists of computer hardware, operating systems, application development environments and numerous applications. CloudShield will join SAIC's Intelligence and Information Solutions unit, part of the company's Intelligence, Security and Technology Group, led by Stu Shea.
