San Ramon, Calif. -- Green Plug, a San Ramon-based developer of energy efficiency technology enabling electronic devices to communicate with their power sources, said on Wednesday that it has raised an undisclosed amount in its second round of funding. Herald Investments UK, Killik & Co. and Peninsula Venture Partners co-led the round, which came at a higher valuation than an earlier round that closed in Jan. 2008. "With this new investment round, look for Green Plug to become native within power management and other controller chips," said CEO Frank Paniagua Jr. The company's technology allows any device to communicate with Green Plug-enabled power supplies, either wirelessly or through a power cable. The devices then draw only the power they need to operate.
