Mountain View, Calif. -- Google said that it has acquired Seattle-based DocVerse, a provider of technology that lets users collaborate on Microsoft Word documents online. The Wall Street Journal pegged the purchase price at around $25 million. Founded in 2007 by two Microsoft veterans, DocVerse lets users upload Word documents to the web and jointly edit them. Mountain View-based Google reportedly plans to combine DocVerse with Google Apps, creating a link between the Microsoft Office and Google Apps platforms.
