Sunnyvale, Calif. -- Confirming a flurry of rumors about the deal, Sunnyvale-based Yahoo said on Wednesday that it will acquire Citizen Sports, a San Francisco-based developer of sports apps and games for the iPhone and Facebook platforms. Financial terms of the deal, expected to close by midyear, were not disclosed. Founded in 2004 by Mike Kerns and Jeff Ma in 2004, Citizen Sports is the developer of the popular Sportacular iPhone app, as well as several other fantasy sports games and Facebook apps. "Sports has been among the earliest online categories to experience rapid social proliferation, and the combination of Citizen Sports leading products with our world-class sports experience on Yahoo Sports is a win-win for sports fans globally," said Bryan Lamkin, the senior vice president of Yahoo's Consumer Products Group.
