Santa Clara, Calif. -- Intel Capital, the investment arm of Santa Clara-based chipmaker Intel, said on Tuesday it has invested more than $30 million in four companies, including three from the Bay Area. The firm has taken stakes in Utah-based Adaptive Computing, a developer of unified automation intelligence technology; Santa Clara-based Ciranova, a developer of integrated circuit physical design software; Sausalito-based Joyent, a provider of cloud computing infrastructure and services; and San Francisco-based Nexant, a provider of energy software and services. The funding is part of the firm's $200 million Intel Capital Invest in America Technology Fund, unveiled in February.
