Basking Ridge, N.J. -- Wireless carrier Verizon Wireless said it plans to launch its 4G mobile broadband service Sunday in 38 major markets -- including Oakland, San Francisco and San Jose -- as well as 60 U.S. airports -- including those in all three areas. The company said its LTE network will feature speeds up to 10 times faster than its current 3G network, with data plans starting at $50 a month for 5 GB. Dan Mead, the president and CEO of Verizon Wireless, said the company will immediately be able to reach more than a third of all Americans with the service, "and by 2013 will reach the existing Verizon Wireless 3G coverage area."
