San Francisco -- Grockit, the San Francisco-based developer of a social network for studying, said on Monday it has raised $7 million in its fourth round of funding, led by Atlas Venture. Previous backers Benchmark Capital and Integral Capital Partners, along with new investors NewSchools Venture Fund and GSV Capital Corp. also participated. The company, which now has raised more than $24 million since its inception in 2007 -- including a $7 million round that closed in May 2010, plans to use the funds to support growth both domestically and internationally. Grockit's learning platform combines social networking and online gaming technology to help students master academic skills and prepare for standardized tests.
