San Francisco -- Liftopia, a San Francisco-based online retailer of lift tickets and mountain resort activities, said it has raised $1.3 million in a new round of funding led by First Round Capital. New investors Dave Morin and Chris Sacca also participated, along with previous backers and travel technology veterans Erik Blachford and Sam Shank. Founded in 2006 by former Hotwire.com co-workers Evan Reece and Ron Schneidermann, Liftopia now has raised nearly $3 million. The company, which works directly with more than 150 mountain resorts across North America, sells lift tickets and a variety of resort activities in advance, allowing consumers to save up to 80% off walk-up rates. The company said the financing will help it expand its technology platform and deliver more tools and services to resort partners.
