Washington, DC -- Aneesh Chopra, who in 2009 was named the nation's first federal CTO, has resigned from the position, the White House said on Friday. Politico reported that Chopra's last day will be Feb. 8. Chopra, who previously served as Virginia's Secretary of Technology, reportedly is mulling a possible career in politics. "Aneesh found countless ways to engage the American people using technology, from electronic health records for veterans, to expanding access to broadband for rural communities, to modernizing government records," said President Obama in a statement. "His legacy of leadership and innovation will benefit Americans for years to come, and I thank him for his outstanding service."
