San Mateo, Calif. -- Appirio, a San Mateo-based provider of cloud applications and platforms to businesses, said on Thursday it has raised $60 million in its fourth round of funding, led by General Atlantic. Previous backers Sequoia Capital and GGV Capital also participated in the round, which the company will use to expand its consulting practice areas, as well as to build out its cloud technology and further develop its crowdsourcing development platform, known as CloudSpokes. Appirio also has named Mark O'Connor as its CFO. O'Connor most recently served as the chief of staff and vice president of operations at Nuance Communications. He also previously served as CFO for BeVocal and Appshop. Launched in 2006, Appirio to date has moved more than 1.5 million users to the public cloud.
