New York -- Average broadband speeds in San Francisco rank among the nation's fastest, according to new study by Pando Networks. San Francisco ranked second in the study of 35 U.S. cities, with average speeds of 828 kilobits per seconds. San Jose ranked 12th (661 KBps). The results were based on the speeds of millions of downloads delivered by the company's software. Austin, Texas topped the list at 841KBps, with Boston (827), Seattle (805) and New York (787) rounding out the top five. El Paso, Texas recorded the slowest speed among big cities at 483KBps -- barely half the speed of Austin. In terms of Internet service providers (ISPs), Comcast led the way at 941KBps, followed by Optimum Online at (874) and Charter Communications (868). The study is available at the link below.
