Washington, DC -- Filling a void created by last month's departure of Aneesh Chopra, President Obama has named Todd Park as the nation's new CTO. Park since 2009 has served as CTO of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), where he was originally hired as an entrepreneur-in-residence. White at HHS, Park helped create HealthCare.gov, a site providing consumers with choices of available health insurance plans by zip code, and the Health Data Initiative, which makes vast amounts of HHS information available through Health.Data.gov. "Todd Park has demonstrated a remarkable talent for enlisting innovative technologies to modernize government, reduce waste and make government information more accessible to the public," said Obama. "In his new position he will bring those skills to the entire Federal enterprise." Chopra, who in 2009 became the nation's inaugural CTO, announced his resignation in January and reportedly is contemplating a run for Virginia lieutenant governor.
