Palo Alto, Calif. -- True Ventures, a Palo Alto-based early-stage venture capital firm, said it has closed a new $205 million investment fund. The fund, known as True Ventures III, will continue the firm's strategy of investing smaller amounts -- often less than $2.5 million -- to support new entrants into the largest emerging technology markets, including commerce, consumer devices, infrastructure services, media, mobile and software and services. Founded in 2006, the firm now has $600 million under management, and has funded more than 100 companies, including Automattic, BrightRoll, Assistly, Typekit, Socialcast, Fitbit, Urban Airship and Puppet Labs. True Ventures, which also has offices in San Francisco, closed its previous fund in 2008.
